   JOKE    THOUGHT    OPINION
It’s always fun when students can outsmart their teachers… and we’ve been outsmarted ourselves in today’s edition of the Joke of the Day!

   THIS WEEK'S POLL
Last winter, the Legislature killed a proposal that would have allocated $2.3 million to pay for a police resource officer for every 1000 students in the state. The resource officers would be assigned to the schools. Lawmakers decided they wanted more study before deciding if Wyoming needed to put more police officers in schools, and how to pay for them.   Should Wyoming have one police officer per 1000 students stationed in the state’s schools?

There are an estimated 1,200 no longer used and abandoned coal bed methane wells in northeastern Wyoming. The Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission raises about $1 million a year through a combination of bonds and conservation taxes paid by the energy industry. That’s enough to plug about 100 a year. The president of the Petroleum Association of Wyoming says bonding levels are adequate, and there are concerns that increasing taxes on the energy industry could have a chilling effect on development.   Should taxes and bonds be increased on the energy industry to pay for plugging of abandoned wells?
